I live in Southern Ca and I’m trying to fly a friend down from Oakland or San Fransisco to Ontario Ca. The cheapest I have found are from Southwest Airlines for about $100 round trip but I have heard that I can get a ticket for $50 round trip.. Does anybody know how to go about finding this cheap of a ticket?

How? Sign up for sale alerts with http://www. farecompare. com — enter your cities and click “Find Cheap Airfare. ”
I also use http://matrix. itasoftware. com/cvg/dispatch/prego/calendar since it will search multiple airports simultaneously, but it does not do bookings. I searched from OAK;SFO;SJC;SMF to LAX;SAN;ONT;BUR;LGB;SNA for May, and cheapest currently available is $96 round trip–because the taxes are included.
I do recall Jetblue with some $19+tax one ways last year or maybe 2 years ago–that’s about the only way you’d get $50rt with tax incl. , but haven’t seen it that cheap in a long time. According to Farecompare (link below), it was only $44 r/t last July, but with fuel so expensive, I wouldn’t bet on it dipping that low again. Sign up for sale alerts there–enter your email where it says “My Trips”–and I think that’s the best bet of actually getting anything cheaper that what it is currently.
